Majority of Amazon's Top Sellers Have Operated for Over Six Years, Indicating High Market Churn
As of April 10, 2025, data from Marketplace Pulse reveals that over 60% of Amazon's top 10,000 sellers registered before 2019. Despite thousands of new sellers joining the marketplace daily, early registrants continue to dominate.
While the composition of top sellers has remained relatively stable in recent years, nearly 10% of the most successful sellers registered within the past two years. This suggests that, despite increasing market barriers, newcomers with strategic vision can still penetrate the market.
However, the majority of sellers do not reach this level of success. Among those who registered before 2019, less than 8% remain active today. Although newer accounts show higher activity rates over time, the activity rate for sellers who registered in 2022 remains below 20%,and for those who joined in 2023, the activity rate remains below 30%.
